Furniture Gift Scheme Coordinator
katherine low settlement

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to start a new project to meet a huge need.

Many people on low or no income in the borough do not have some furniture items and cannot afford to buy them. This is especially families moving home and young people moving into their first home or room. We know of many families who do not have beds, or cannot afford a sofa. Fridges are important as they enable families to save money on food but are often not provided in flats.

At the same time we also have many offers of furniture - someone offered all the contents of her flat when she was moving abroad! Local people are very generous and would rather see their furniture go to a good home rather than to landfill.

We want to start a new scheme which matches the offers of furniture with the people who need it, and we're looking for soemone who can manage the start-up of the project.

Once we have storage, transport and some volunteers and publicity we'll be good to go!!

If this challenge exites you, please get in touch by emailing Fleur Anderson, Head of Community Services, and then we can talk together about what is involved. The hours will be up to you - we are thinking that one to two days a week would be good. Then you can decide if this role is for you.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
