Advisor (Welfare Benefits)
independent age

Job Description

Independent Age | Kensington |

We live in a country with an ageing population – by 2040, 1 in 4 people in the UK will be 65 or over – and with this comes challenges.  Independent Age exists so that people can continue to live life on their own terms, campaigning to ensure people can enjoy being independent, financially secure, healthy, active and connected in older age. Independent Age provides information and advice on a variety of topics – along with friendship services to relieve loneliness.

It’s an incredibly exciting time to join a developing organisation, with potential to have a huge impact on the lives of older people. The organisation is going through a significant period of transformation, with a new Chief Executive who joined in October 2019, and a new brand scheduled for roll out in 2020.

We are now looking for experienced welfare benefit advisers who can join our Advice team to deliver telephone advice that empowers callers to our helpline to navigate the complexities of the benefit system, including conducting benefit calculations and advising on the process of making a claim. We need someone who is passionate about helping people and able to provide detailed benefit advice over the phone.

The position would best suit:

  • Someone with experience in the advice sector looking for a new opportunity;

  • Someone who has detailed knowledge of the benefit system who can translate complex legislation into plain English;

  • Someone with strong telephone skills who is able to provide advice without seeing the related documents

    If you are interested in this role and feel you meet the requirements we would love to hear from you! Please click to apply or visit our website to view the full job description and person specification.
