Carers Trust is the largest UK wide charity for the nation’s 7 million unpaid carers. Together with our Network Partners, we provide support, information, advice and services for children, young people and adults caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend.  There are an estimated 700,000 young carers aged under 18 years old in the UK. The negative impact of caring can be significant and enduring on a young person’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, socialisation and life opportunities.

Carers Trust aims to improve the identification and support of young carers in education, with a particular focus on schools. Schools are ideally positioned to play a collaborative role in identifying and initiating support for young carers and their families. We are looking for an Education Policy and Development Manager to develop, deliver and manage this essential, innovative and high-profile work to ensure that young carers are identified early and enabled to fulfil their potential.

You will have a working knowledge of the education system, education policy and the challenges faced by schools. You’ll have experience of fostering collaborative relationships and influencing stakeholders to adopt and embed new ways of working. You will be passionate about involving young people from diverse and hard-to reach groups in the development and delivery of projects and policy work. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a project that will vastly improve the availability of support to young carers and their families.

Closing date for applications is Noon on Tuesday 15 November 2016 with interviews on Thursday 1st December in London.

Carers Trust is committed to valuing diversity.

Carers Trust has a number of measures in place to support the carers in its employment including carers leave.
