Job Description

Job overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity to manage the day-to-day delivery of a government-funded contract supporting young people, their guardians and teachers understanding of and access to apprenticeship opportunities. Reporting to the Head of Schools, the ASK Regional Manager is responsible for ensuring the ASK project is delivered to a consistently high standard across all geographical areas and target KPIs The Manager will lead a team of staff across the South West and South Central region who will deliver the project, working closely with school teachers and careers advisors., In addition, the role will be responsible for ensuring the quality of delivery for the whole contract, including developing resources and guidance, appropriate service level agreements, sharing best practice and training staff and partners. The post requires an Enhanced Disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service. It is home-based and will involve regular travel across this region.

Key Accountabilities

Project Quality Control

  1. Responsible for quality control of the project, ensuring that delivery is to a consistent high standard across all areas and that processes are put in place to ensure this.
  2. Coordinating and managing the training of staff and partners including team meetings
  3. Coordinating the sharing of best practice across all delivery staff and partners and ensuring continuous improvement
  4. Managing the relationships with partner providers including reviewing their performance and leading regular review meetings
  5. Coordinating a schedule of staff observation visits including creating resources and forms to support with the carrying out of these observations and identifying themes for what is working and areas for improvement
  6. Compiling a monthly KIT report and supporting with content for newsletters to showcase the project to schools.
  7. Responsibility for post-event evaluations, including ensuring these are completed, introducing processes for follow up on feedback and reporting on themes, developing appropriate strategies to resolve any areas of improvement
  8. Working with the wider ASK team to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting and liaising with stakeholders, including schools, employers, and the ESFA
  9. Supporting the organisation of thematic events and larger teacher events
  10. Supporting the Head of Schools with completing key project reports for the Education and Skills Funding Agency (“ESFA”) the project’s funder and contributing to contract meetings
  11. Regularly delivering presentations about the project to relevant audiences including teachers and careers support staff and other key stakeholders.

Line Management

12.Line management of a team of regionally based staff engaged to deliver the ASK project, developing an excellent team environment and ensuring appropriate performance management.

13.Supporting the Head of Schools with any recruitment of new staff for the ASK project

Other

  • Dealing with general enquiries from teachers, careers support staff and school leaders about the charity’s programmes, services, and campaigns
  • Providing general support to the schools’ team on school engagement, events coordination, project delivery as needed
  • Other ad hoc tasks as and when needed

Person specification

Skills/ Knowledge/ Expertise

Essential

  • Experience in successful relationship management – ability to engage confidently and sensitively with schools/colleges and at a range of levels of seniority up to and including head teacher level
  • Experience in Project Management and coordinating delivery
  • Experience of line managing a small team
  • Strong organisational skills
  • An articulate and confident communicator who is influential, and effective in presenting a concept both face to face and on the phone.
  • Good level of education, demonstrating capability in producing written content to a high standard. Comfort and confidence in working with data.
  • Good working knowledge and practical application of Microsoft office tools
  • Able to attend meetings at the Charity’s London office for 2 days each month.
  • An understanding of Apprenticeships and the current landscape
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the region

  • A passion for realising a closer integration of and collaborative working between education and employment sectors
  • Experience of working in a small team
