Job Description

We are looking for a Director of People and Culture who is an inspiring, visionary, people-focused leader ready to play a key role in helping us step up to the opportunities and needs before us in this exciting, growth season. We have a brilliant and growing team. Support, income and influence are increasing fast - we are experiencing favour from churches and Christian networks that is beyond what we could hope for, and political influence that belies our small advocacy team. And we’ve only just begun.

You will have experience of embedding great culture and building motivated teams. You will have a passion to help a growing organisation increase its effectiveness through excellent people and organisational development. You will bring energy, clarity and strategic focus to the role – along with a positive, problem-solving approach to addressing issues. The cause will matter to you – and you’ll be motivated by your Christian faith to use your expertise and people skills to make this a really great place to work. And if you’re anything like the rest of us, you’ll probably like cake!

Open Doors is a Christian charity passionate about serving persecuted Christians worldwide. Through working for Open Doors you will become part of an exciting vision to strengthen the Body of Christ which is being persecuted for its faith all over the world.

This new role is critical in helping us shape our organisation, its culture and its working environment so that we live and breathe our values; reflect our Christian ethos internally and externally and have fun working well together.

You will

  • Be an active, practising Christian
  • Be an experienced HR leader preferably within the charity sector
  • Be an inspiring, visionary and people-focused leader
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of building a high trust culture
  • Have experience in leading Organisation Development/HR at senior level
  • Be passionate about people and building a motivated team
  • Have a track record of effective change management and culture development
  • Have energy, clarity and a strategic focus

There is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for this post to be held by an active, practising Christian who assents to our statement of faith.

Closing date: 18 September 2016
