Job Description
We a have full time Designated Safeguarding Officer permanent position based at the Head Office in Harlow but are required to work at any location/site on which we operate and as determined by the needs of the business.
This is a career enhancing opportunity, which involves being the first point of contact for all staff and volunteers to go to for additional guidance if they are concerned about a child or vulnerable adult in our services. It also involves delivering safeguarding training, update and implementing policies & procedures plus share learning, as appropriate, with staff, volunteers, Senior Management and Trustees. Furthermore, you will receive safeguarding referrals and coordinate a procedure which addresses and prioritises the needs of those affected by liaising with statutory agencies.
This position requires that the applicants:
- Holds a Health and Social Care degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification.
- Have experience working with Vulnerable Adults and Children in a health and social care environment
- Have the ability to promote and demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice
- Have exceptional Communication skills
- Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.
- Understand the assessment process for providing early help and intervention
- Have a working knowledge of how local authorities conduct a child protection case conference and a child protection review conference and be able to attend and contribute to these effectively when required to do so;
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
- Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with
