Treasurer required for thriving multi-purpose community centre.

Copleston Centre provides a space for everyone in the heart of Peckham. Every week, more than 500 people, toddlers to pensioners, join us for activities from pilates to community singing, supporting all sections of the community including refugees and people with mental health concerns.  This multi-cultural, multi-purpose community centre grew around Copleston Church, a joint Church of England and United Reform Church with a thriving congregation. We need a new treasurer to continue our vital work of supporting our vibrant diverse communities, and helping to ensure our long-term financial sustainability.

You will ned to give around 0.5 day per month reviewing / working remotely on monthly financial reporting; attendance of bi-monthly Trustees meeting (2 hours); preparation of year-end accounts – 3 days; ad-hoc needs to resolve financial matters.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Financial qualification and experience e.g. accounting qualification, prior / current experience of advising charities / managing charity finances
• Commitment to support the aims and needs of the Copleston Centre
• Strategic vision
• Good, independent judgement
• Ability to think creatively
• Willingness to speak their mind
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
