Job Description

COMMUNITY OUTREACH WORKER

To address the immediate safety needs of  Latin American and other BAMER Spanish and Portuguese speaking women who are experiencing domestic violence in England, through the delivery of a holistic advice,  advocacy service, information, signposting and referrals onto appropriate services which will put clients on the path to long term safety.

28 hours week

English, Spanish ( essential)  and Portuguese (desirable)

This post is open to women only and is exempt under the Sex Discrimination Act 7(2) (d) and (e) and the Race Relations Act 5(2) (d) 1976.

1 Year contract-subject to project funding

JOB DESCRIPTION

Advice and Advocacy Work

  • To provide short-term and long-term casework for women and girls affected by domestic violence both centrally, outreach basis and refuge in a range of areas including: comprehensive risk assessment, personal safety planning, advice on legal remedies, welfare benefit advice, housing advice, child support measures and enabling clients to access specialist legal advice, counselling and other services which will enable them to develop their skills and integrate into the community.

  • To work closely with partner agencies to manage risk appropriately, deliver co-ordinated and comprehensive support packages and to make appropriate referrals to other services

  • To undertake CAADA DASH RIC and safety planning that enables victims to enhance their safety and that of their children without reducing opportunities or impairing quality of life

  • To represent clients at Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) as required.

  • To build capacity- by training community based agencies in how to identify and deal with case of domestic abuse.

Project monitoring duties

  • To regularly monitor adequate progress towards the outcomes of the projects, responsible for and report any issues or inadequate progress to the Manager at the earliest opportunity.

  • To plan an annual ‘user consultation time-schedule’ encompassing quarterly formal user consultations and ensure informal user consultations are carried out on a regular basis after casework interventions.

Finance & Administration

  • Monitor project budgets and expenditure and assist in preparing estimates for budgeted activities

  • Carries overall responsibility in work planning, budgeting, financial management and reporting.
