Clinks supports, represents and campaigns for the voluntary sector working with people effected by the criminal justice system. We aim to ensure voluntary organisations and all those with whom they work, are informed and engaged in order to transform the lives of offenders and their communities.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our highly respected policy team for a 6 month period. As part of a small team providing national infrastructure support to voluntary sector organisations in England and Wales, Clinks policy function works to keep our members informed about criminal justice policy and to ensure that the voluntary sector’s knowledge and expertise in rehabilitation and reducing reoffending is represented when policy decisions are made.

This post is offered as a 6 month contract to provide the team with additional capacity. We actively encourage applications for secondments to Clinks from other organisations to fill this post.  Key aspects of the role include: desk research to monitor government policy relating to criminal justice, producing policy updates and briefings, and undertaking consultation with our members and stakeholders and drafting reports. The post will support the development and operation of various policy focussed groups, networks and structures which Clinks facilitates.

The successful candidate will also be able to develop their own policy interests where appropriate. Therefore we are particularly interested in applications from individuals with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas: prison, probation, youth justice, families affected by the criminal justice system, people with protected characteristics in the criminal justice system.
