Director of Fundraising
child's i foundation

Job Description

Child's i Foundation make families not orphans. Together we reimagine a world where every child grows up in a loving family in Uganda. We rebuild families to enable children to return from orphanages into their communities and we repurpose the orphanage infrastructures into a service to support thousands more children in their families.

Our work is expanding, and our fundraising needs are growing, and because of this we are now looking to hire our first Fundraising Director. Over the last 3 years our income has doubled to £1,000,000 through 6 income streams with huge potential to grow and we have an ambitious target of reaching £1,800,000 by 2020.

We are looking for someone with entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to think strategically and long term, while also being able to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done in the here and now.

We have a team of over 80 people in Uganda, and 3 people in the UK. As Director of Fundraising in our UK team, your job would be to help us develop fundraising to enable our amazing team to achieve our mission: Reaching a tipping point by 2021, where Uganda is committed to the closure of all orphanages.

We are relatively small, but we think and want to deliver big, and we hope you do to. We are focused on meeting our goals, but it’s important to us to maintain a healthy work-life balance, where people feel well looked after.

About the role

  • You will have overall responsibility for the fundraising for Child's i Foundation.
  • While we have a decent amount of fundraising already, you will be the one to lift it to the next level. You get to develop our fundraising programmes and help build the next phase of our organisation.

  • Develop long-term partnerships with businesses and individuals to help us achieve our mission.
  • Organise events to deepen relationships with our existing donors and make new connections.
  • Come up with ideas, research, test and develop new ideas to help us secure income for the long term.
  • Make sure everything we do is legal and compliant with fundraising regulation and legislation, including GDPR.
  • Make our small budget go a long way and plan, forecast and report.

Your experience

  • A proven track record of at least 5-years of delivering significant income growth.
  • Experience in maintaining major high-value, sustainable partnerships.
  • Experience of successfully managing teams in person and remotely.
  • International development know how helps, but is not essential.

Your personality

  • Be passionate about children and our cause
  • Love and respect our supporters
  • Be cool under pressure
  • Be kind
  • Be professional
  • Communicate well, verbally and non-verbally
  • Be confident and assertive
  • Be strategic
  • Be innovative
  • Be hungry and never compromise.

How we work

  • We are flexible, and adapt our way of working around our employee’s needs.
  • We are international. We spend a lot of time on Facebook Work Place, WhatsApp and Skype.
  • We meet in person a minimum of once a week at Norton Rose Fulbright’s offices, near London Bridge. They have lovely biscuits and give us a meeting room every week with the best view in London.

The rest of the time it’s up to you to give your best to help us consign orphanages to the history books.

If this sounds exciting and up your street, please send us your CV and a cover letter by Wednesday 7th March. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 14th March in London.
