Job Description

Charlton Athletic Community Trust, also known as CACT, is a charity that operates in South East London and areas of Kent. CACT delivers a variety of projects and activities that aim to empower local communities, change lives and address issues around health, crime, education and employment.

The Trustees are looking to strengthen the Board and starting a search for additional trustees.

The community programme at Charlton Athletic Football Club has grown over the last 27 years into an organisation that is one of the biggest football-related community trusts in the country and its achievements have been recognised both nationally and internationally.

CACT’s projects and activities are delivered under seven key strands: Early Help and Prevention, Education, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Football and Sports Development, Health Improvement, Social Action and Enterprise and Youth Services.

CACT works in partnership with Local Authorities, Health Organisations, other charities etc to deliver high quality programmes that have a lasting impact and in 2018/19 we worked with 43,500 people.

This is an exciting time to join CACT’s board of trustees; we have recently revised our Vision, Values and Mission and launched a new Three-year Strategic Plan 2019 -2022.

Trustees

Trustees play a vital role in the strategic direction of the charity, working closely with the Chief Executive and Executive Team.  Through your contribution, you would be able to make an impact by supporting an award-winning charity that has an excellent reputation in the community for delivering quality, life-changing services.

CACT’s highly committed board of trustees comprise people with a range of professional backgrounds and specialist knowledge and to share the work and deliver objectives defined in our new three-year strategy, the Board is keen to add to its numbers and broaden the existing skills and experience.

The Board are particularly interested in recruiting trustees with expertise and/or experience in:

  • Fundraising: to support our fundraising team to deliver our growth strategy focusing on corporates and individuals
  • Health: to support and help develop our Health Improvement and Mental Health projects delivered in the community
