Job Description

The Prisoner Learning Alliance (PLA) has the vision 'that all prisoners can engage in high-quality and diverse learning opportunities to help them transform their lives.'

To achieve this vision, our mission is to provide expertise and strategic vision to inform prison education priorities, policies and practices.

The charity Prisoners' Education Trust established the PLA in 2012. Now an alliance of 23 organisations, meetings are held on a quarterly basis and attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Justice. In each meeting there is space on the agenda to hear directly from prisoner or ex- prisoner learners. We also hold one meeting per year in a prison to ensure we can hear the views of as many prisoners and prison staff as possible.

Having grown in size and influence over the last five years, the PLA is now seeking a new Chair. For more information about the role, including a letter to candidates and a full role description and person specification, please see the attached documents.
