Job Description

Community Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services (CDARS) is a charity organization that provides psychological and social support to drug/alcohol users, people suffering from mental health problems and their family members.  Geographical areas that we cover include: Sutton, Merton and Wandsworth.

CDARS seeks a treasurer to join the Board of Trustees. In addition to acting as a full member of the Board of Trustees, the new Treasurer should attend meetings, as will be agreed,with the CEO and Finance Manager in order to oversee, guide the production of budgets, management accounts and financial statements; also to advise  on the financial implications of the charity’s investment decisions and strategic plans.

The successful candidate will have financial and business experience at an appropriate level, and an understanding of the charity sector in the UK.

Required specification:

  • Significant financial management experience.
  • Some understanding of the UK charity sector.
  • Commitment to attend trustee board meetings.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion.
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of local needs and resources.
  • Commitment to the aims, principles and policies of CDARS.
  • Willingness and ability to act in the best interests of the organisation.
  • Ability to understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities of trustees and employees.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

The Treasurer will be expected to attend Board meetings every two months, plus as and when needed  Finance Advisory Group meetings and some contact with the CEO and Finance Manager.
