Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Communications Manager to help us comprehensively develop our communications function, including digital content through our website and social media.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the post holder will have responsibility for developing and leading a revised communication strategy to enable us to properly reflect the high professional standards of our Registrants in supporting people’s mental health and personal development; and ensure a greater understanding of the contribution that psychoanalytic thinking can play in supporting the development of emotional wellbeing in society. 

The BPC is highly regarded in the psychotherapy field, having a tradition of excellence and intellectual rigour. However, our website, social media presence and member e-newsletters all need a significant overhaul and we are looking for a creative and highly motivated individual to take responsibility for this. The post holder will also be responsible for producing promotional material, including for our flagship annual conference, and (working alongside the editor) will manage the production of our highly regarded professional magazine ‘New Associations’. We need an ambitious, clever and creative communications professional to help us.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, with the capacity to work both autonomously and in partnership with others. You should have a minimum of 3 years communications experience including the development of creative digital content that has made a real impact. Experience in the not-for-profit, professional membership and/or mental health sectors would be advantageous.  

A salary of £30,000 to £34,000 (dependant on experience) pro-rata per annum is offered, with 28 days holiday pro-rata, plus statutory holidays and 6% employer pension contribution. London based.

The role is offered on a part-time basis, 0.5 full time equivalent, 17.5 hours a week (actual hours / days can be negotiated).
