Job Description

An exciting, flexible opportunity to lead a small but effective patient’s charity, Blood Pressure UK, based in a beautiful location in Central London.  We are responsible for lowering the nation’s blood pressure, the single biggest cause of death and disability, and are highly regarded in the scientific and public health community. We are seeking an experienced senior manager to take responsibility for developing and managing the small team with business, communications, fundraising, administration and governance support whilst our current CEO is on maternity leave.

The post holder will need to have proven knowledge, skills and abilities as a leader, manager and fundraiser in a charity setting.  The successful candidate will have experience of successfully managing HR functions, an understanding of Charity regulations including governance, financial management, and the General Data Protection Regulations.

Knowledge of health, specifically blood pressure, nutrition and/or public health would be desirable, however training will be provided.  We regularly communicate to our members and the public via our magazine Positive Pressure magazine and E-bulletins, helpline, our popular website (currently being updated) and via the media, through public campaigns such as our award-winning “Know Your Numbers!®”.

The charity is not currently in a position to allocate a salary to this role, which is maternity cover in the first instance; hence there will be a level of flexibility in the role uncommon with such a senior position.  However if the fundraising strategy implemented by this post holder is successful, this will be revised.  The Chief Executive Officer will have considerable freedom of action within their area of responsibility, within the parameters of Blood Pressure UK’s ethos.
