About the role

The Economics & Law Researcher will provide crucial support to the biodiversity team to address various legal and economic aspects of the management, protection and restoration of biodiversity (marine and terrestrial) and to develop legal tools to better protect EU wildlife. This will include developing economic and legal arguments to support ClientEarth’s advocacy in the team’s priority areas. Initial specific projects will relate to the EU’s Blue Growth strategy, which could lead to rapid growth in the aquaculture sector, and the UK’s potential adoption of a ‘natural capital’ approach in the upcoming 25 year plan for the environment. Funding for this position is initially for 1 year.

About you

The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record, with knowledge of economic theories (preferably ecological economics) and environmental law. They will be a highly organised, efficient worker able to handle a number of competing priorities, with a demonstrable interest in environmental issues. They will have a professional and friendly manner and be able to establish good working relationships within the Biodiversity team and with colleagues throughout the organisation. Excellent written and verbal skills in English are essential.
