Trustee – TSELF

Volunteer Position

We are now looking for trustees to sit on the TSELF Board.

Our ideal board member will be someone who comes from either the Social Enterprise or Social Sector ideally with experience of managing or running a social enterprise. Additionally they will have demonstrable experience of grant making and fundraising. 

This is a huge opportunity to be part of a force for change as TSELF is embarking upon an exciting chapter in its history – after providing loans to social sector organisations for 20 years, TSELF will now fulfil its mission by providing support to social businesses to help them grow and increase their social impact.  The new strategy will require fundraising and the development of networks to assist with the provision of business support.

Created as a business solution to a social problem, The Big Issue was founded in 1991 to fight poverty by providing a legal way to earn money. 

In 2005 Big Issue Invest the social investment arm of the group was founded. TSELF is the charitable arm of Big Issue Invest which is the UK’s leading provider of social investment.  Big Issue Invest manages over £50m of funds which it deploys as repayable finance to help social sector organisations dismantle poverty across the UK.

This is an unpaid trustee position. Meetings are held quarterly in London but as we have a geographical spread of Investee partners we are very interested in applicants from outside London and the West Midlands area in particular.
