Job Introduction

We are recruiting two new members to the BBCs Charity Appeals Advisory Committee which is made up of independent experts from outside the Corporation who advise and support the BBCs Executive Committee.

Main Responsibilities

oluntary members with specialist knowledge of the international sector or specialist knowledge of the disability sector.  Three year term of office.

You will advise on policy, scrutiny, the allocation of broadcasting time and the strategic development of the BBCs relationship to appeals which include BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief/Sport Relief, the Radio 4 Appeal including the Christmas appeal for St. Martin-in-the-Fields, BBC One Lifeline, appeals in the Nations and English Regions, appeals on behalf of the Disasters Emergency Committee and other projects where funds are raised for charities.

The Ideal Candidate

In order to ensure a mix of expertise on the AAC, we currently require one member with specialist knowledge of the international sector and one member with specialist knowledge of the disability sector and we would be especially interested in candidates with lived experience of disability.

Candidates will also need to demonstrate experience in at least two of the following areas: social policy, fundraising, finance, grant making, legal issues, monitoring and evaluation. They should also be, or have been, a CEO or senior executive of a charity. Your contract will be for three years, renewable for a further two years by agreement. The position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be met.
