Animal Free Research UK funds an extensive portfolio of high calibre scientific research projects within the UK that focus on replacing the use of animals used in medical research. Income to fund AFR UK research is generated almost exclusively by donations and legacies. Previous experience in a trustee role is not essential, as a full induction will be provided.

Taking on the role of a trustee of the AFR UK is a significant undertaking. The Board meets at least 4 times per year on Saturdays in March, June, August and December and an appropriate time commitment will be required over the course of the year for the preparative work required in between meetings as well as one annual strategy meeting.

We are particularly interested to hear from individuals with financial*, human resources, veterinary or scientific research backgrounds.

* Specifically we are seeking an Honorary Treasurer to support the Board and CEO/Finance in successful delivery of the Charity’s financial responsibilities and objectives . This includes provision of advice, guidance, challenge and reassurance on all aspects of the Charity’s financial activities and ensuring that the Charity’s strategic and operational plans are underpinned by robust and fit for purpose financial management.
