Job Description

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer required to help small, thriving charity develop methods and tools to demonstrate its impact to beneficiaries.

ALD Life supports sufferers of adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare, terminal genetic brain disorder affecting apparently normal and healthy males aged 4 to 60, causing complete loss of function and death usually within a year of diagnosis.

We offer practical, emotional and financial support for families worldwide, research funding, an advisory service for new and existing diagnoses, education for medical professionals, schools and social services and advice on best practice within the NHS. We are also in the process of applying for newborn screening and working on the development of care and treatment pathways in the UK.

The role will focus on the development of ALD Life’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework and impact assessment to capture the impact of existing support and research services, and provide vital data to inform research, future support services and funding requests.

The M&E Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Support Services Manager utilising Outcomes Star™ software. They will be expected to engage enthusiastically and sensitively with key stakeholders, and produce case studies, a Patient Registry and training tools

The role is full time, and home based, preferably with easy access to Hitchin and London with travel expenses provided for some aspects of the role. Salary offered is £20,00 to £25,000. 

The role will suit a degree graduate with an interest in social or natural science disciplines, monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement.

Candidates will be expected to have researched ALD and be able to demonstrate knowledge and a keen interest. They will also need robust analytical and research skills and work comprehensively and accurately at all time, with excellent literacy, communication and interpersonal skills.​ Emotional intelligence, empathy, sensitivity and teamwork are essential qualities for prospective applicants.
