Job Description

This is an opportunity to work in a small not-for-profit organisation with an outstanding reputation and drive a key part of the northern powerhouse schools strategy.

Academy Ambassadors is seeking a regional manager to drive our work with academy trusts across Lancashire, Yorkshire, East Midlands and the North, helping them to build better boards by recruiting trustees from business and the professions. Academy Ambassadors is a relatively new charity with a reputation for calibre: this role is an opportunity to build an enviable network among education and business leaders across the north of England.

The role will suit someone who has a strong corporate network, outstanding presentation and networking skills and can engage at senior levels of business and can drive growth.

*This role could suit a part-time member of staff on 4 days a week or working full-time. The office is based in Manchester with opportunities for home-working after an initial 3-day induction in London*

Responsibilities will include:

The role is fast-paced and includes a mix of the strategic, pro-active and responsive work with significant independent working.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Working with the Regional Director to create a 12-month plan for Lancashire, West Yorkshire, the North, East Midlands and Humber
  • Plan and deliver corporate engagement activity, including business breakfasts for Government Ministers and CEOs and communications activity to recruit high-calibre business people as potential trustees/non-executive directors
  • Support targeted headhunting for difficult-to-fill roles – eg LinkedIn and other research
  • Work together with an assistant to build excellent relationships with academy trusts in the regions including attending events to  encourage trusts to use the service
  • Lead planning and delivery of a communications strategy 
  • Support the Regional Director to build a strong relationship with the Regional Schools Commissioners (RSCs) 
  • With the Regional Director, plan events and communications to support ‘alumni’ of Academy Ambassadors – such as Welcome roundtable breakfasts
  • Maintaining accurate records by keeping Salesforce database up to date.
  • Line managing an Assistant (TBC)

The Academy Ambassadors team is just six and strong teamwork is essential: it is expected that duties will be shared with others in the team as and when needed, particularly when large events are planned such as our annual House of Lords event.
