Domestic Abuse Support Worker (peripatetic)
psu

Job Description

Are you interested in improving access to justice for people who have experienced, or are experiencing, domestic abuse (DA)?

The Personal Support Unit (PSU) is an independent charity providing practical and emotional support to people facing the court process without lawyers. Many of our clients have experience of domestic abuse, and the PSU is recruiting for a number of roles that will enable us to enhance the support we can offer them.  Applicants will have experience and knowledge of the effects of DA and be able to understand what we can do to effectively support our clients, and how we can influence others in the justice system to reduce the trauma of the court experience.

The Support Workers are initially funded until end of March 2020. The post will be exciting and varied, with the chance to shape the role. You will help clients face-to-face; help the organisation to strengthen its understanding of the effects of DA and how to effectively support clients; and work with partners to increase awareness of the issues surrounding DA in the court environment. You will make a real difference  to our capacity as an organisation to support people suffering domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a post holder based in PSU Birmingham. You will report to the Regional Manager here, and will be expected to travel to our other offices in the Midlands region.

PSU Midlands: PSU Birmingham, PSU Coventry and PSU Nottingham.

To apply please send a CV, together with a covering letter clearly explaining how you fulfil the person specification and the requirements of the role.

Closing date: 22nd April 2019

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
