Job Description

Peace Direct is looking for an experienced Head of Finance and Operations to join our dynamic team. This is a very exciting time for Peace Direct, as we have been growing quickly over the last few years and we are keen to ensure that our internal systems and procedures keep up with this pace of growth. We have big ambitions to scale up our peacebuilding impact around the world through research, advocacy and programmes so that the international aid system is more responsive to the needs and voices of local people working to stop violence and build peace around the world. To do this will require excellent financial management and planning, strengthened internal systems and processes, improved integration across the departments, and a focus on continuous improvement.

As Head of Finance and Operations, you will be a core member of the Senior Management Team, with overall responsibility for financial strategy and management, as well as ensuring that all internal systems and processes work effectively and efficiently. This is a very demanding job, which requires excellent knowledge of accounting best practice, financial systems, quality assurance, HR and IT issues. The job is a good mix of financial management, systems development, line management and quality assurance. We expect the successful candidate to have a solid background in all of these skill areas as well as exceptional interpersonal, teamworking and negotiation skills. If you are a seasoned Finance professional but have no interest or experience in Operations (HR, IT, Admin, risk management) then please don't apply. Likewise, an Operations Manager without the necessary Financial Management background is not what we are lookng for.  

The successful candidate will be an experienced Senior Manager, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, as well as demonstrable experience in managing people. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for our mission to support local efforts to build peace and who enjoys looking at ways to make organisations operate more efficiently and effectively.

Peace Direct is an international NGO that supports local peacebuilding in conflict zones worldwide. We work with local organisations in ten countries around the world and aim to support many more in the years to come.
