Becoming a Trustee offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to play a vital role in our future.  We are seeking two new Trustees to serve for an initial four year term.

Our Board is responsible for ensuring that the general direction of Railway Paths is consistent with its charitable aims, and is pursued energetically, creatively and effectively.  We are particularly seeking to make worthwhile use of some challenging properties.

Board members are responsible for:

  • Agreeing the over-arching strategy,
  • Supporting the Principal Officer and holding him/ her to account,
  • Providing specialist or technical advice,
  • Ensuring asset stewardship responsibilities are effectively discharged.

Candidates will have a strong interest in sustainable transport, ideally be used to operating at a strategic level and will have held significant and influential roles in a professional or governance environment.

We would particularly welcome applicants who have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Legal in a commercial or general practice
  • Estate and Property Management, ideally including heritage assets
  • Financial management

Railway Paths works in a wide variety of communities and with people of all ages.  We want our Board to reflect this diversity.  We can provide training and development to successful candidates who may lack the full range of experience.

The annual commitment will be approximately 8 days.  The board normally meets three times a year on working days at various UK wide locations, with overnight stays.  The role of Trustee is unremunerated, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

The application deadline is noon 8 March 2019.

Interviews will be carried out at a date to be confirmed with the shortlisted candidates likely to be during week commencing 25 March or 1 April 2019 in London.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
