Job Description

Registered charity Belong was founded in 2010 to help address the root causes of crime and the harm caused by crime. We specialise in enabling positive development, rehabilitation and recovery amongst those who have been victims or perpetrators of sexual or violent offences. Our services include mentoring, art therapy and restorative justice interventions. We work with children, young people and adults in custodial and community settings.

We are looking for a committed, talented and energetic person with an interest in criminal justice and community accountancy to join our Trustee Board as a Treasurer. The Treasurer will be responsible for working with Belong's Director and Board of Trustees to maintain an overview of Belong's financial affairs, ensuring the organisation's financial viability and checking that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. Specific duties will include:

  • Overseeing and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements to the trustee board.
  • Liaising with designated staff about financial matters.
  • Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Ensuring that accounts meet the conditions of contractual agreements with external agencies such as funders and statutory bodies.
  • Advising on the organisation’s reserves policy and investment policy.
  • Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Ensuring that there is no conflict between any investment held and the aims and objects of the charity.

The successful applicant will be able to commit approximately 5 hours per month to their role and participate in bimonthly trustee meetings which are held on weekday evenings in central London

Please apply for this role by sending us a covering letter and CV.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
