The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL’s mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. Role Profile

ZSL is seeking an Audience Insights Manager who will play an important part in helping us to understand more about our visitors to ZSL London and ZSL Whipsnade Zoos as well those who support our conservation cause, and to provide us with great, actionable audience insight.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing you will manage ZSL’s audience research and insight programme, developing a clear understanding of ZSL’s existing and potential audiences as well as make recommendations that will inform future campaigns, product development and visitor experience. This role will be responsible for reporting on audiences KPI’s and play an important part in providing clear, actionable insight to help drive visitors and income to our Zoos as well as to develop deeper engagement with ZSL as a wildlife conservation charity. 

Person Specification

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. Marketing) or have prior relevant work experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience of working in a consumer insights, analytical or marketing function ideally in the culture, tourism, leisure or charity sector.
  • Proven experience of analysing and interpreting statistical data and imaginatively disseminating findings and recommendations.
  • Practical experience of managing external research agencies and working with third parties suppliers and partners.
  • Experience of analysing and using customer databases.
  • Independently driven and show initiative; with strong administrative skills
  • Able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills and have good time and organisational management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of utilising digital analytical and social media monitoring tools (for e.g. Google Analytics, Hootsuite) to help inform audience insight.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access and SQL querying for data import/export and data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with research software packages (for example: Survey Monkey, SPSS or Snap) and experience of analysing raw data.
  • Able to collate, analyse, interpret and present data accurately in an appropriate format and in a timely manner and appreciates the need to monitor and control outputs.

Please note: This is a full-time, permanent position (Monday – Friday), and the post holder will be based at ZSL’s main offices in Regent’s Park. Due to the nature of the post, the successful candidate may occasionally be required to work at Whipsnade Zoo and make visits to external agencies, consultancies and organisations as and when necessary.
