Job Description

Safer Places is an independent charity which provides a comprehensive range of services to adults and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse and family conflict who live in Essex and Hertfordshire. The people who use our services are at the heart of our organisation and we aim to work to enable them to overcome the impact of their experience and to build a brighter and safe future for themselves and their children.

We have full time Community Service Manager permanent position based in West Essex area.

This great role involves mainly being:

•the leading contact for the High and Medium risk community pathway in West Essex
•line manage a team of IDVAs and DAPs inclusive of all HR functions to ensure high quality service provision on the basis of risk, need and choice.
•providing advice and guidance on safeguarding and information sharing concerns to all staff operating in the locality

The candidate is required to be able to:

• Line manage a team of IDVAs and DAPs inclusive of all HR functions; team meetings, supervision, appraisals, performance management, recruitment, induction and identification of training need, CPD requirements and annual leave is planned and managed.

• Ensure the team are fully inducted and are provided with the support and resources required to deliver excellent performance including ensuring that their needs for clinical supervision as well as line supervision are met

• Manage the staff employed to deliver services to the high risk and medium risk cases ensuring that caseloads as a whole is managed dynamically on the basis of risk, need and choice, implementing step up and step down appropriately and ensuring swift and appropriate access to additional services offered by Safer Places and other organisations

• Support the Senior Operations Manager for Community service to collate and contribute to quarterly service reviews which include monitoring data, evaluations, case studies and practice and work load reviews for the service

• Develop the staff team, coaching and mentoring individuals to deliver the standards of service required, identifying and supporting talent and addressing performance that falls short of requirements

• Ensure that the service operates effectively within the specialist remit of our organisation, referring appropriately and identifying and addressing” mission creep “ where this occurs as a result of gaps in service provision by other agencies.

• Deliver high quality case-work ensuring contract compliance and a high standard of individually tailored support inclusive of safety planning and risk assessment

• Support the empowerment of service users and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation in order to regain control of their lives.

• Ensure that the service is known to all partners and visible to all victims in the locality by hosting and participating in partnership events , participating in local Domestic Abuse Forums and working closely with Community Safety Partnership Managers on initiatives to identify and address locality specific requirements

• Ensure that safeguarding is of the highest standard for both children and adult , liaising with the designated safeguarding officer and through strong advocacy making sure that victims receive the support required or where this is not possible that concerns are escalated to your line manager so that we can take action

• Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.
•Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.

• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the service works in, providing a service that recognises the diverse needs of victims.
