Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator
advocacy in barnet

Job Description

Advocacy in Barnet is an independent, award-winning charity operating throughout the London Borough of Barnet. Small, but dynamic and well-regarded, the Charity has a strong track record for establishing new innovative projects across health and social care services.

Advocacy in Barnet’s work supports people to have their say, communicate their needs and make informed choices in obtaining community or health services in the way they want them through free, impartial and accessible advocacy. We provide free services to vulnerable people over 50 including Care Act advocacy, advocacy support to people affected by cancer, supporting plans for future care and end of life and supporting people leaving hospital. We work with local and national partners, contributing to policy and practice development and have an excellent training programme for our volunteers and social work students.

Being an expert on all things volunteering, you will support us to increase the number of active volunteers involved as well as increase the profile of the Charity to engage the community. You will ensure that processes, procedures and training are all in place for our volunteers to effectively deliver advocacy and enjoy representing us.

You will be a confident communicator, with strong time management and organisational skills.  Ideally, you will have experience of working in the health, social care or voluntary sector; with excellent team working skills. The role requires flexibility to accommodate travel throughout Barnet and neighbouring boroughs and out of office hours/weekend working, therefore a full clean driving license is desirable.

If you meet our requirements, are drawn to an outward facing role and are enthusiastic, flexible and are seeking “more than just a job” we would love to hear from you.

Advocacy in Barnet welcomes applications from people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and cultural communities.

Closing date for receipt of submissions 11.00am 22 December 2017. Interviews will be held week commencing 9 January 2018.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
