Purpose of the role

Publish What You Pay (PWYP) is a global network of civil society organisations that are united in their call for an open and accountable extractive industry so that the revenues generated by oil, gas and mining operations help improve the lives of citizens in resource-rich countries. PWYP promotes the  disclosure of information about extractive industry revenues, contracts and government budgets. Since its establishment in 2002, the global network has grown to over 700 member organisations across the world including human rights, development, environmental and faith-based groups.

The global PWYP coalition is supported by an international Secretariat, headquartered in London with presence in regions relevant for our membership. Currently expanding, we are looking for a talented and highly motivated professional who embraces our mission and is a team player to support the newly created Global Initiatives and Impact team in coordinating the global coalition’s engagement in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative is a global reporting standard which promotes transparency and accountability in the extractive sector. It was founded partly in response to PWYP campaigning.

As Global Initiatives and Impact assistant, you will be responsible for planning and organising successful, cost-effective events, providing administrative and logistical support to colleagues and EITI international board members, liaising with EITI stakeholders and contributing to internal knowledge management in order for PWYP members to gain full advantage of the EITI. This will involve some international travel.
