Purpose of the role

Publish What You Pay (PWYP) is a global network of civil society organisations that are united in their call for an open and accountable extractive industry so that the revenues generated by oil, gas and mining operations help improve the lives of citizens in resource-rich countries. PWYP promotes the  disclosure of information about extractive industry revenues, contracts and government budgets. Since its establishment in 2002, the global network has grown to over 700 member organisations across the world including human rights, development, environmental and faith-based groups.

The global PWYP coalition is supported by an international Secretariat, headquartered in London with presence in regions relevant to our membership. Our small team is now expanding and we are looking for an exceptional change-maker who embraces our mission and is a team player. You will be joining the newly created Global Initiatives and Impact team to spearhead our global coalition’s engagement in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative is a global reporting standard which promotes transparency and accountability in the extractive sector. It was founded partly in response to PWYP campaigning.

As the Global Initiatives and Impact Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing strategic analysis and advice, spearheading and coordinating global advocacy efforts in relation to EITI, as well as developing and delivering training programmes in order for PWYP members across the world to gain full advantage of the EITI as a platform to promote the good governance of natural resources in their respective countries. This will involve substantial international travel as well as managing/supervising the Global Initiatives and Impact assistant.
