Brighton Students’ Union is a not for profit charity representing over 21,000 students studying on any one of the 5 University of Brighton campuses (in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings) or at one of our partner colleges ranging from Worthing in the west to Hastings in east.

We are governed by a Board of Trustees, consisting of 5 full-time elected Officer Trustees, 4Student Trustees and 4 External Trustees. The Trustees approve a maintenance grant from the University of over £1m which covers most of our areas of expenditure. The Union also secures additional funding from external sources for other specific projects.

As part of our Board, you will support the Chief Executive Officer, the President and other elected officers, in the continued delivery of our high-quality services and assuring the long-term sustainability of the organisation. We would welcome applicants with a keen understanding of higher education and issues affecting students and young people. In particular, we would encourage applications from individuals with previous experience in Charity Law and Human Resources. All trustee positions are voluntary (expenses provided) and offer a range of personal development opportunities.
