Job Description

Community Works is a well-established and respected charity giving voluntary and community organisations the support and platform they need to make a difference to local lives and issues.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, experienced and forward-thinking
Chief Executive Officer to develop and shape the future direction of Community Works.

Key aspects of the role are to:

  • Provide leadership across the voluntary and community sector (VCS)
  • Promote the VCS to the public and business communities
  • Ensure high quality services to Community Works’ member organisations
  • Work with partnership organisations to develop collaborative working and funding
  • Build on the new business in West Sussex

Based in central Brighton, the post holder will benefit from ongoing support from pro-active trustees and strong staff teams with clear roles and strong team ethics. This is alongside a competitive salary, a varied and interesting role and the opportunity to influence the future of the voluntary sector.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience as a senior manager or CEO in a similar organisation
  • Experience of managing organisational change
  • An ability to develop positive relationships with key stakeholders
  • A proven track record of financial management and fundraising  
  • A commitment to the ongoing development of the VCS

Terms and conditions:

  • 35 hours per week
  • 28 days annual leave per year + bank holidays
  • £41,967-£45,418 + 5% pension contribution
  • Permanent position
  • Responsible to the Board of Trustees
  • Location: Central Brighton, with regular travel to satellite locations
