Job Description

Leonard Cheshire Disability is one of the world’s leading charities for disabled people.  We believe that disabled people should have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose – with the opportunity and support to live independently, to contribute economically, and to participate fully in society.

The impact of our work is felt worldwide.  We are the UK’s largest voluntary sector provider of services for disabled people and this year we will directly support over 7,000 disabled people in the UK and many more worldwide through our global alliance working in 54 countries.  We also campaign actively for a world where every person is equally valued.

The role:

  • Responsible for providing timely, insightful information and recommendations to support the Management Board, Finance Committee and Audit & Risk Committee in order to deliver the charity’s business plan and ensure the organisation’s longer-term financial sustainability.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s internal and external financial reporting and for ensuring that the organisation meets its business objectives by the careful use of financial controls, provision of financial advice and the maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure fiscal prudence.
  • To line manage the Finance and Procurement teams and deputise for the Chief Financial Officer when appropriate.

The candidate:

  • Will be a graduate and qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience. They should also be able to display a track record of strong progression throughout their career and be able to cite examples of genuinely contributing to their employer.
  • They will possess demonstrable experience of managing all aspects of a finance function including internal & external financial reporting, budgeting and business planning, financial risk management, tax, treasury and financial governance as well as leading and developing a high performing and diverse team.
  • Will likely have private sector experience however will also possess a genuine commitment to the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire Disability. Some knowledge of the social care and/or voluntary sector would be desirable but not essential.
