Development Manager

Job Description

My client is an established arts organisation based in North West London looking for a Development Manager to join their expanding fundraising team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Research, develop and manage prospective relationships and major donors, preparing plans for each relationship, regularly reviewing the pool of prospective supporters and always ensuring the relevant person makes the “ask”.
  • Oversee the administration, recording and reporting of the organisations Friends’ scheme to include the renewals and payments process and relevant correspondence and follow up.  This includes investigating and engaging with lapsed Friends.
  • Monitor visitors to the site and follow up where appropriate to encourage support
  • Update the CRM with donor profile information and activity
  • Working with the Director of Development and Head of Marketing supervise and undertake a full re-branding of all fundraising collateral
  • Work with Front of House and volunteers to ensure visitors are cultivated to join the Friends’ scheme.
  • Work alongside the Director of Development in wider Individual Giving fundraising activities to include the delivery of a legacy campaign and relevant printed collateral.
  • Undertake regular maintenance of donor acknowledgement lists on our website, in our Annual Review and elsewhere where relevant.

Essential candidate criteria:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working within a fundraising team
  • Excellent presentation skills, discrete, diplomatic and sensitive approach to the individual needs of donors
  • Results driven with a demonstrable track record of delivering against target
  • Ability to take decisive ownership and drive areas of responsibility
  • Experience of promoting and managing a membership scheme with a successful track record of increasing members.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and administratively organised
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to generate compelling copy to articulate the organisations case for support
  • Proven track record of managing relationships with a portfolio of donors to secure high level gifts.
  • Proven track record of applying excellent organisational skills to manage competing priorities and own workload
  • Empathy with and understanding of  Arts and Heritage
  • Experience of working with a complex donor/client CRM database
  • A proven ability to work well under pressure in a complex environment

An interest in the arts is imperative although experience working within fundraising will be advantageous
