Fundraising Manager

Job Description

My client is a health charity with an ambitious plan for major growth and development over the coming year.  They are looking for a committed and energetic Fundraising Manager to join their dynamic team.

Key responsibilities:

  • To develop and agree the strategy to increase income levels through public fundraising programme including through direct marketing (70%) and community/events (30%) fundraising activities; exploiting channels, motivations and messages and through products development
  • To oversee the development of operational plans for each area of public fundraising and to ensure that appropriate measures are in place to enable monitoring and evaluation of these plans
  • To understand and get to know our supporters including their motivations for giving and appropriately target our communications to maximise engagement and income generation
  • To define the direct marketing programme including a suite of communications to warm supporters, recruiting new supporters, ensuring excellent stewardship and maximising retention rates and average gifts
  • To define and deliver the events fundraising programme including marketing activities to both warm and cold audiences, managing suppliers and ensuring excellent supporter care both during and after the event, for long term income generation
  • Develop and proactively use reports to monitor and evaluate fundraising activities
  • To develop, monitor and reforecast income and expenditure budgets for public fundraising
  • To ensure that the highest standards of relationship management are provided including suitable recognition to supporters
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure that fundraising is fully engaged with the development of service delivery activities
  • To lead and manage team member(s) in developing high quality programmes of fundraising activity

Essential candidate criteria:

  • Extensive fundraising experience in direct marketing (essential) and some experience of/exposure to events/community fundraising
  • Experience in developing strategy and business plans to enable long and medium term growth
  • Experience of recruiting new supporters, techniques to keep them engaged and monitoring/evaluating success
  • Experience of recruiting supporters onto regular gifts, reducing attrition and evaluating success
  • Experience of delivering and monitoring cross channel marketing campaigns including through mail, email, SMS, web, social media and phone
  • Experience in setting up and monitoring detailed income and expenditure budgets
  • Strong track record of identifying opportunities, testing and developing new and profitable fundraising initiatives
  • Experience of effective management and working with colleagues based remotely (desirable)
  • Experience of developing processes to maximise the potential of a supporter database
  • Experience of managing complaints and fulfilling the requirement of FRSB membership
  • Experience of researching and segmenting audiences to enable effective targeting of communications by content, channel and tone of voice
