Job Description

My client is a health charity with a fantastic strategic plan part of which is major growth and development over the coming year.  They are looking for a committed and energetic Trust Fundraiser to join their dynamic team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on the identification of trusts and foundations that have not previously supported the work of the organisation to increase the portfolio of prospects.
  • To write and submit timely high quality, well researched proposals to small and medium sized trusts and  foundations
  • Create tailored applications to fund the strategic priorities of the organisation as well as matching the priorities of the grant-making organisations
  • Provide excellent stewardship to Trust funders to enable long term income generation
  • To put in place robust procedures to ensure we meet our formal reporting commitments and ensure that high quality and timely reports are submitted and communications sent
  • To ensure that the database is kept up to date with all trust fundraising activity including applications, communications, submissions, funds received and reports
  • To ensure that appropriate levels of monitoring and evaluation are carried out to ensure that the quality of our submissions continues to improve and meet funder requirements
  • To ensure that the website is kept up to date with relevant information for trusts and foundations
  • Develop and maintain a bank of generic trust proposals for each programme that requires funding

Essential candidate criteria:

  • At least 2 years’ experience within a Trust Fundraising environment for a national charity preferably in health or disability
  • Experience of developing relationships with Trustees and administrators of grant making organisations
  • Experience of using a database to record applications, communications and donations and monitor and evaluate success
  • Experience of researching trusts and developing a prospect list
  • Experience of developing and managing a pipeline of relationships and income generation
  • Experience of working cross organisationally to deliver tailored applications and reports that fit with funder requirements
  • Reliable and well organised with good time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and have a working knowledge of database systems
  • A proven track record of successfully working to and achieving measurable KPI’s.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills and the ability to engage across many levels.
  • Ability to create excellent relationships with Trustees and administrators of grant making organisations
  • A creative and lateral thinker, who is able to identify a range of opportunities that support our work and ‘sell’ the charity
