Job Description

The Association of British Choral Directors (abcd) is the only UK organisation devoted entirely to supporting those leading choral music, both amateur and professional. We are committed to promoting opportunities for the professional development of everyone leading singing, whether in the classroom or the community. Our 800+ members represent nearly 2000 choral groups and include teachers, composers, singers and students, leading singing of all kinds. We run an extensive programme of courses and workshops, which cater for leaders of all kinds of singing, age groups and experience using a network of the best choral leadership trainers in the country. Our choral conducting courses run from beginner to advanced levels. In addition our regional committees put on a wide range of regional events, ranging from singing and repertoire days to more social occasions, all of which also provide opportunities to network, compare experience, and seek advice from others working in the same field. This all comes together at the Annual Convention, which takes place in a different regional centre each year and attracts over 200 delegates from all parts of the choral spectrum. We have a small home-based staff of two and much of our work is done by volunteers. 

We are looking for a new Treasurer and Finance Director to replace our current postholder, who needs to spend more time with his own growing business. The post is an voluntary one, though a small honorarium is payable. Both roles of Treasurer and Finance Director have been taken by the current postholder and we are happy to hear from people interested in either or both roles. The Finance Director is usually a Trustee of the organisation. Further detail about the two roles is in the attachments.
