SESSIONAL 1-2-1 ADVOCATE £13 - £16 per hour - negotiable according to experience.

Lewisham Speaking Up, the independent advocacy project for and led by people with learning disabilities based in Lewisham is looking for a sessional 1-2-1 advocate to provide short to medium term casework advocacy support.

The person we seek will have considerable experience of one to one working to support people with learning disabilities. They will have experience of empowering them to take control of their lives, ideally within the advocacy sector. They will have a good understanding of advocacy practice and principles, and will have experience supporting the rights, voices and choices of adults with learning disabilities. This may be individually or within groups possibly within the service or social work sectors.

Lewisham Speaking Up, the only independent advocacy service of its type within Lewisham, is changing to meet the challenges it faces. During this transition a new sessional advocate will be offered at least 14hrs work per week. This role provides a challenging yet rewarding context for individuals with a commitment and enthusiasm for independent advocacy.

This is a flexible sessional position paid hourly every month which includes a generous annual leave allowance [pro rata].
